Artificial Intelligence (AI) refers to the ability of a computer system or related machines to think and learn like humans. This is a control system or robot programmed to perform tasks commonly associated with intelligent beings.

The science of making machines that can think and act or perform tasks like humans.

The aim of this article is to essentially spark a thought of understanding how AI technology works and the actual impact it has on future generations. It has been said that AI concept has been around since the 1950s, and the R & D has matured over the years (Decades) bringing about modification to the definition as well as the technological advancements.

John McCarthy appears to be the man who coined the term Artificial Intelligence according to sources on the internet. In 1956, John McCarthy and others organized a conference titled the “Dartmouth Summer Research Project on Artificial Intelligence.”

The term AI is derived from these two words Artificial Intelligence, which the latter connotes that for something to be regarded as intelligent it should meet the below operative words. Intelligence as the ability to:

  • Adapt to new and any situation
  • Plan
  • Solve Problems
  • Improvise in new situations and
  • Learn new things

By artificial we then mean creating this intelligence in various scientific forms ergo artificial intelligence. There has been rapid acceleration of AI changing landscape which is becoming somewhat challenging to keep up with.

AI in the world of big data and a plethora of sources of information both business and individual, it is the key driver of emerging technologies such as Internet of Things (IoT), sensors, robotics including generative AI tools like ChatGPT.

There is close to 50% of companies looking to integrate AI into their operations to ensure efficiency and of course cost reduction. No industry is immune to this integration and this will certainly affect job security.

Below terms will be buzz-words and phrases now and in the near future,

  • AI in Transportation
  • AI in Manufacturing
  • AI in Healthcare
